House of Hope of the Pee Dee has opened a Cooling Station for those in need at Whosoever Church, located at 541 S. Church Street, Florence, SC 29506. Hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. After 2:00 PM, guests are welcome to check into the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter, which is located directly next to the church. Attention: The City of Florence is Now Accepting Applications for the Third Round of South Carolina Opioid Recovery Grant Funding. The South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund Board (SCORF Board) was established through the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Act to administer and distribute funds received through settlement agreements resulting from In re South Carolina Opioid Litigation. The City of Florence serves as a participating political subdivision for the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Funding to authorize funding requests. As a participating political subdivision, the City of Florence is responsible for receiving local funding applications and recommending eligible projects for consideration. All completed applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.
