City of Florence named Tree City USA for the 45th Consecutive Year!

The City of Florence was named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. This marks the 45th consecutive year that the City has received this honor. 

Florence achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program's four requirements:

• A tree board or department
• A tree-care ordinance
• An annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
• An Arbor Day observance and proclamation

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

Cleaner air, improved stormwater management, energy savings, and increased property values and commercial activity are among the benefits enjoyed by Tree City USA communities.

City of Florence Awarded 18th Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA Growth Award!

The Arbor Day Foundation presents the Tree City USA Growth Award to communities that exhibit elevated levels of tree care and community engagement throughout the calendar year. The City of Florence stands among a select few cities (less than 15% of Tree Cities) honored with a Growth Award in 2025 for surpassing the four standards of Tree City USA. 

The Growth Award acknowledges significant milestones and yearly activities across five categories, which collectively contribute to the development of sustainable community forestry programs:

• Building the Team
• Measuring Trees & Forests
• Planning the Work
• Performing the Work
• The Community Framework

The City of Florence celebrates an impressive 18  years of receiving the Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA Growth Award.
