FLORENCE, SC – The City of Florence will unveil a new community mural, Farm To Table: A Florence Market Journey Through Public Art, at the City Center Market at 200 Sanborn Street on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:30 am. The City Center Market was awarded the 2026 Arts Project Support for Organizations Grant by the South Carolina Arts Commission (SCAC). The SCAC aims to expand access to the arts and foster creativity for all South Carolinians through a range of creative experiences. This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The grant is a 1:1 match with the total project cost being $2,500. Grant funding supported artist expenses, including materials, supplies, and installation costs required to complete the mural. Through the new mural, Farm To Table: A Florence Market Journey Through Public Art, the City Center Market aims to enhance the market experience and celebrate the connection between local agriculture and the fresh produce offered to our residents.

Jason Best is the artist behind the mural at the market. Jason is a South Carolina  based artist from Columbia, South Carolina. Jason captures the essence of the facility with his depiction of the farm to table concept. He specializes in murals, portraits, landscapes, illustrations, and custom designs, working closely with clients and communities to bring their ideas to life. Jason brings experience working with local governments, having previously completed mural projects for the City of Dillon, SC and the Town of Nichols, SC. His approach to art centers on creating meaningful pieces to spark conversation and emotion while staying true to his artistic integrity.

City Manager, Scotty Davis said, “Our focus is to foster a sense of community pride and engagement by creating public artwork that draws people in, encourages exploration, and reinforces the idea of the City Center Market as a community gathering place where art, agriculture, and community intersect”.
