FLORENCE, SC – The City of Florence Fire Department is currently conducting its annual hydrant testing to ensure hydrants are functioning properly and ready for firefighting and emergency use. Testing is expected to continue through December 31, 2026.
In Fire Districts 1 and 5, crews will conduct flow testing, which measures the water flow rate from hydrants to assess available water for firefighting, sprinkler systems, and domestic use. In the remaining districts, fire department staff will conduct static pressure readings to measure water pressure when no water is flowing to ensure reliability. The attached map identifies the City of Florence fire districts.
During testing, City of Florence water customers may experience low water pressure in their area. Crews will carefully manage hydrant flow to help minimize water discoloration, which can occasionally occur when iron and mineral deposits are stirred up during the testing process.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our community.
